Starting as a tattoo artist, I drew out and exposed personal stories. After moving to Melbourne my practice focused on ‘imaginative realist’ painting. Participating in local and international groups shows, my ideas increasingly responded to contemporary urban Asian culture.
In parallel, I worked as a commercial muralist and learnt to translate concepts to the urban scale. While hanging off a wall I’ve directly experienced how artworks, even when in progress, can interact with the public.
While my artwork has developed through scales and mediums its always connected by storytelling. Art is allegorical and I’m most fascinated by journeys – through our personal stories and shared myths. These exist just below the surface of our everyday lives and at the edges of the city.
My vision is to create a deeply immersive atmosphere and propel the viewer on their journey by initiating a sense of adventure and wonder at the sublime.
